What Our Techs Say
Scarborough is a town in Cumberland County on the southern coast of Maine. The town is a coastal resort area that's part of the Portland-South Portland- Biddeford, Maine metropolitan statistical area. The population was 18,919 as of the 2010 census. It is just a seven mile drive to Portland and the Maine Mall with easy access to the Maine Turnpike, Portland Jetport and passenger rail service to Boston and points south. Scarborough is a diverse community with a commitment to quality of life and the environment.
The Town of Scarborough has three unique coastal areas within its borders; the quaint summer cottages at Higgins Beach, the rocky coastline at Prouts Neck and the sandy beaches and protected waters of Pine Point. The great salt marsh known as the Scarborough Marsh, which is Maine's largest tidal marsh, encompassing approximately 3,100 acres, is also located within the boundaries of the Town of Scarborough. The Marsh is protected at the local, state and federal levels and can be enjoyed by all. During the warmer months, the Maine Audubon operates the Scarborough Marsh Nature Center located on the Pine Point Road. Hunters, fishermen and skimobile enthusiasts all find Scarborough a perfect location to engage in their favorite sports and activities.
