Meet the Earthmoving Service Manager

It was probably just meant to be! Nate Clark, Earthmoving Service Manager at the Milford, Massachusetts Milton CAT facility, grew up around heavy equipment; from a young age he worked on farms or in the woods. He liked it enough to make it his career, and attended UMaine in Orono, Maine, graduating with a degree in Engineering and Technology.
“I worked summers at the Milton CAT Brewer location; my first job there was reclaiming hose fittings,” recalls Nate, who also tells us that one fateful summer, he worked in the warehouse at the Milford location. “From that point on, I stayed around here,” laughs Nate, who explains that his next step was at the Milford parts counter, followed by a stint at Wareham’s parts counter. Becoming a TC or Technical Communicator responsible for track-type tractors, forestry equipment and articulated and off-highway trucks was a logical transition for Nate, who had always felt very comfortable around large equipment, and is a big believer in the power of communication; his long career at Milton CAT also includes having been a field service supervisor.
Today, as part of what he calls “a natural progression,” Nate’s the Earthmoving Service Manager at one of Milton CAT’s largest service shops, home to many exciting projects including many CAT Certified Rebuilds. He still believes communication is a huge factor in being a successful manager and strives to keep his team knowledgeable about what’s going on; as he states, “It’s important to keep the guys in the loop; if they stay informed, everybody moves in the same direction.”
