Meet the Service Manager

Chris Geel

manager-clifton-(1).jpgOur Clifton Park, NY, Earthmoving and Power Systems Service Manager, Chris Geel is living proof of the opportunities that exist at Milton CAT. Chris has worked his way up the ranks, he understands his team members' challenges and is always ready to look out for his people and support them. How did it all start for Chris? He was working at a small truck repair shop and someone who observed how much he enjoyed learning new things suggested that he apply for a service technician job at what was then Southworth-Milton. His initial impression? "When I came to work for Southworth-Milton in 1984, the other guys were really good to me, I had great mentors – folks who were excited, dedicated and talented people."

In 2001, when he was offered the Earthmoving Service Supervisor position, he was nervous at first, but he felt good about it. He had seen that Milton CAT moves people up the ranks and he knew he could do it. In 2006, Chris became Service Manager for the Clifton Park location which meant that in addition to in-shop earthmoving service, he would also manage earthmoving field service, and the in-shop and field service for power systems.

Chris is straightforward – "If we are operating efficiently and smartly, the numbers will take care of themselves and we will have taken care of the customer." He feels that he does his best to treat others the way he'd want to be treated, and he explains that follow-through and integrity are two of the basic qualities he wants to see in his team members. He especially values people who believe in what they do and who take ownership; and he states, simply – "I am very happy to come to work every day and I want it to be that way for everybody."
